Sinead Macken

Textile Artist & Project Manager

My background in ecology combined with my passion for textiles inspires my work. Following a life long interest in textiles, I returned to college to study Textile Design in the Centre for Creative Arts and Media in GMIT, Galway, graduating in 2020. My eco-conscious approach relies on the use of upcycled and sustainable materials. This is a core theme in my practice and inform my material and process choices. Each year in self-employed role as Project and Events Manager, I organise and coordinate a national environmental colloquium. Based in Kinvara Village on the West coast of Ireland, this scenic location along the Western Seaboard sees my work explore the fusion of nature and colour.
